Frequently Asked Questions

Are your products safe?

Yes, our products are safe for your family and lawn. For most applications, we ask that you keep off the lawn for about 24 hours, or until dry . The lawn can be walked on earlier than 24 hours but it would be ideal to stay off of it to allow for maximum efficiency of the products.

Do I need lawn care year-round, even in the winter?

Yes, lawn care is a constant process. Every season we have specific treatments and applications that take effect during those times. For example, during the late winter we are applying pre-emergents and doing a lawn assessment for the coming warm weather.

Do I need to be home for my lawn care service?

No, you do not need to be home for your lawn care service. We will let you know before we arrive and we will provide you with information on what services we provided during our visit.

Do I need to water post treatment?

Yes. Although treatments primarily will be liquid-based, it is essential to water post treatment, to ensure that the product is being driven to the soil, where it will be most effective. Typically watering in 24-48 hours would be ideal, unless there has been significant rain in the time frame of treatment.

Do I still need to water my lawn?

Yes! Watering is essential for getting the lush, green lawn of your dreams. However, too much water can be just as damaging as not watering at all. It is recommended to water in the morning before the sun is fully present.

Does lawn need to be clear before service (leaves, clippings, etc.)?

Yes, a clear lawn, free of anything that will prohibit even coverage of products being applied is encouraged.

How do you handle Zoysia grasses since they are different from Fescue/Bermuda?

Zoysia grasses are handled as how we would treat warm season grasses, such as Bermuda. In the spring, we will put a pre-emergent down to help with the summer weeds, alongside the proper amounts of fertilizer during the year, and a pre-emergent application in the fall to help with control of winter weeds.

How does lime treatment work and what does it do?

Lime is a granular product that goes down on turf to help raise the pH level of the soil to optimum levels for grasses to grow and be healthy. Better soil health helps control weed presence in yards.

How often is aeration recommended?

For most lawn types, aeration should be done once or twice a year; your Triangle Lawn Care technician will let you know what they recommend. Typically, the aeration and overseeding process will occur once in the springtime and once in the fall.

Is mechanical aeration the same thing as core aeration?

Yes, mechanical aeration is the same thing as core aeration.

What are the Cool season Grasses?

Cool Season Grasses include Fescues, Kentucky Bluegrass, Bentgrass, Ryegrass.

What are the Warm season Grasses?

Warm season grasses include Centipede, Zoysia, Bermuda, St Augustine, Carpetgrass.

What do you do for grub control?

Grub control applications are liquid treatments that are applied to the turf, to aid in control of grubs. Typically the best time for a grub treatment is between the months of March-September.

What types of grass do you service?

We service cool and warm-season grasses including Bermuda, Fescue, Zoysia, and many more.

What's the difference between warm season and cool season grasses?

Cool season grasses stay green until temperatures drop below 32 degrees F for extended periods and can survive subfreezing temperatures. Warm Season Grasses prefer the heat of southern climates. They grow the fastest during the summer, preferring temperatures between 80 and 95 degrees.

When can I expect to see results?

Depending on the condition of your lawn and when you begin, this process can take 18-24 months for total results.

When do you do aeration and seeding?

For Bermuda Seeding, if the customer is interested it would be in the late spring or early summer. For Fescue Seeding, it will be in the fall, typically around September through early November, depending on weather conditions. Aeration is applied at least twice per year. Usually in spring and fall.

Which types of grasses do you seed for?

We seed for Bermuda and Fescue grass.

Why are there weeds in my lawn after the first heat wave?

Heat & sunlight feed plants, in this case weeds grow. Also, a combination of wet conditions can contribute to the emergence of some annual weeds.
